Office Buzz

15 September 2008 Update!

1. The Songbook with the songs from the albums, Prayers from the Upper Room and Sing of Him, is now at being printed. It will be out next week, 3rd week of September. An additional feature of the album is the liturgical note found in each song. It introduces the content of the song, and suggestions when and where it can be sung in various seasons and parts of the liturgy.

2. The Music Library is now open for those who would like to photocopy scores. Though not yet available online, choirs and musicians can just visit our office. However, for those in out of town or in other countries, you can write us and we can send you the pieces. Please visit our website at http://jescom.ph.

3. The Children’s album (no title yet) for Masses with children especially for First Communion and Confirmation is on the pre-recording stage. We will ‘test’ the songs to children to see if they are singable or not.

4. A Christmas album is on its way. It will include recording artists singing JMM Christmas songs and old favorites.

On the Menu:

Randy Bayaua is compiling all songs of Fr. Eddie Hontiveros which were presently unpublished (those which were not recorded on CD). He will combine the songs from Fr. Eddie’s old songbooks such as Mga Awiting Pansamba, Magsiawit sa Panginoon, Papuri sa Diyos, Mga Salmong Tugunan at Aleluya, etc. He is classifying the songs according to liturgical use. We hope to publish them by October 2008.

Albums

1. An album for children is brewing. It is meant to answer the needs of the Church for songs needed for First Communion and Confirmation.

2. An album of Responsorial Psalms is on the full swing. Fr. Fruto Ramirez SJ gave us the list of the most frequent psalms used in liturgy. The list has been given to various composers of the Jesuit Music Ministry and will soon be recorded by the various artists of JMM.

3. Advent-Lent Album. Awaiting new compositions for the Advent and Lent Seasons, this album awaits new songs.

Training and Workshops

We have just finished two liturgical music workshops for the Parish of San Isidro Labrador in Antipolo, Rizal and the staggered workshops for Sapang-Palay, Bulacan, Montalvan, Rizal and the 13 choirs of Payatas, Quezon City.

May 2008. Canto Cinco (C5) and Musica Chiesa will do a sampler of 6 songs for weddings and further promotions in JMM events such as Parish and School concerts. They will also go on retreat to further deepen their ministry.

Hi father! Good that you are conducting workshops for the choir. I hope our choir would have the chance to attend your workshops. Medyo tingin ko po there’s something missing or there’s something else we need to know, so as to serve the church in terms of the liturgical music.

Hi Ana! Thanks for your personal translation of Tanging Yaman. Like most songs, they could mean differently to different persons. More power!

Trajano Family

Hello there! We just want to thank you Msgr. Carlo Magno Marcelo and staff, for being such a compassionate priest during the times that my brother, Ferdinand M. Trajano, a catechist, was in most need of prayers. Though it will be 9 nine years come this June that Bro. Ferdz passed away, we still could remember the people who God lovingly sent our way to console us and bring joy in our lives.

Thank you and God bless!

May I request for a copy of the official english translation of the praise song “Tanging Yama”? I have seen many different versions on the web, but I don’t know which one is the correct version.

Thanks you very much. God Bless!
