Dakilang Pag-ibig Tribute Concert

7 04 2008

The Jesuit Music Ministry paid tribute to Fr. Eduardo Hontiveros SJ for his contribution to Filipino Liturgical Music with a concert last 14-15 March 2008 at the Church of the Gesu, Ateneo de Manila University. The choirs who participated were Pansol, Tinig Barangka, Barangka Choir and Tanong Chorale who were Fr. Honti’s choirs. They sang his classic concerts, Panunuluyan and Talinghaga. The artists of the Jesuit Music Ministry such as BukasPalad, Himig Heswita, Canto Cinco C5, and personal friends such as Srs. Bubbles Bandojo rc, and Susay Valdez rc sang solo. Veepee Pinpin and Oggie Benipayo who have been with Himig Heswita. Of course, the Hontiveros family sang, Mariang BukangLiwaway. Bishop Antonio Tagle and sisters Pia and Riza Hontiveros were the hosts. The conductors were no other than Terence Guillermo for C5, and Mr. Jerry Olaguer who grew up under Fr. Honti’s tutelage. The highlight was provided by all the choirs singing Fr. Honti’s Papuri sa Diyos, performed with the UP Filipiniana Dance Group, choreographed by Mr. Van Manalo. Nothing beats showing the concert with a video.
